Carolyn Staskiewicz Hayes

We met on a double date - I was with a different Bill and he was with a different Carol!

Professionally, my husband is a criminal attorney. He and I own a Cessna Skymaster and have flown since the late 60's/early 70's. Bill is an instrument instructor and has his airline transport pilot license. He also plays piano, banjo, guitar and upright bass. We host a monthly jam session at our home.

Our oldest son (William) has two master's degrees and for 10 years was the band director for Central Catholic High School. He now is in administration for the Toledo Public Schools. He too has his pilot's license. He is married to Ann (Kessler) Hayes, and they have two children - Laura and Christopher.

Our younger son (James) has a master's degree in electrical engineering, and is chief engineer for Decision Sciences Corp. in San Diego. He is an instrument rated pilot, plays piano, guitar and almost anything else you can name. He is married to Kristy (Wisniewski) Hayes and they have two children - Charlotte Claire and Violet Elise.

BBA (accounting). MBA (Accounting/Finance) - both from the University of Toledo. Married my best friend. Got my private pilot license in 1971. Later got a multi-engine rating (centerline thrust).

At Owens-Illinois, I had 12 different jobs over 30 years, including first female administrative trainee; first female professional on the audit staff and later in the Treasury Department. Did real estate development and administration for Seagate parcels I and II. Managed the O-I Benefits Department for my last 10 years there. In 2000, I took a retirement package from O-I.

Then the next 10 years were spent at Pilkington (LOF) managing their Benefits Department and doing union negotiations (versus the Steelworkers).

Now I'm happily retired and occupied by grandkids, music, flying, genealogy, gardening, line dancing, golf, travel and my husband!

Best parts of high school: Glee Club (Oklahoma and Oliver), Centric staff and Sister Teresita's math class!
